Technics Updates The SL-1500C Turntable: In The White Room With Black Curtains?
Technics was very aggressive during the vinyl revolution, introducing a number of new models that sold out in some markets within a few weeks. The brand has performed well with DJs and audiophiles alike, and even its top models, which sell for over $3,000, continue to sell well.
The SL-1500C is in the middle of the Technics product line and has been available since 2019. However, it doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon as Technics, instead of offering a replacement, decided to offer a new color option in addition to the standard silver and black. The SL-1500C will also be available in Matte White (SL-1500C-W)..
For those unfamiliar with the SL-1500C, here is a summary of features and specifications that may help if you are considering purchasing a turntable.

Key Features
With a minimalist appearance, the SL-1500C-W is high performance and easy to use supported by the following key features.
Direct drive motor: SL-1500C-W is equipped with direct drive brushless DC motor. This ensures stable rotation without “teeth”.
double layer dish: Dual-layer disc provides improved vibration damping.

S-shaped tonearm: S-shaped, high-sensitivity aluminum tonearm accurately reads LP tracks. The S-shaped arm has the same mass on either side of the pivot point.
Auto-Lift: In addition to the S-shape, the tone has an Auto-Lift. This minimizes needle wear and preserves records.
Construction: The SL-1500C-W has a high rigidity housing and a high damping isolator to completely dampen vibrations. This ensures smooth tracking of vinyl records.

Preinstalled Cartridge: The Ortofon 2M Red pickup is included with the SL-1500C-W and is also pre-installed so you can start listening to serious music right away.
