In one of the strangest audio products ever released, innovative vacuum cleaner and bladeless fan maker Dyson has unveiled Dyson Zone air-purifying headphones which are designed to provide users with an immersive personalized listening experience while combating the effects of air pollution.

The Dyson Zone can be worn alone as headphones (thank god!) or paired with a detachable visor for the added benefit of purified air delivered to your breathing zone.

Functions

Scientific audio engineering: Dyson claims that the Dyson Zone is the result of years of research and development to ensure that headphones deliver ultra-low distortion, improved noise cancellation and faithful full-range sound reproduction first and foremost. The headphones deliver immersive sound and freedom from unwanted city noise with advanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), low distortion and neutral frequency response for accurate audio reproduction.

High Efficiency Air Filtration: Precisely engineered compressors in each earpiece suck air through dual-layer electrostatic filters and direct two streams of purified air towards the wearer’s nose and mouth through the contactless visor. Electrostatic filters trap 99% of pollutants as small as 0.1 microns1, while K-Carbon potassium-enriched filters trap common gases most commonly associated with urban pollution, including NO2 and SO2.

Tip: Dyson claims filter efficiency has been tested to ISO 29463, adapted at the maximum flow setting by an independent third party laboratory. Capture speed may vary depending on actual usage.

My Dyson App: This provides real-time feedback and control. This app can be used to adjust the airflow rate, switch between transparent and isolated modes, adjust the alignment to your preference, and more. The built-in sensor in the headphones monitors the level of NO2 in the air through the application, as well as the level of environmental noise in real time. The app is available for iOS and Android.
