BenQ V5000i 4K UST Projector Offers 2500 Lumens, HDR10+, Triple Laser Lighting
BenQ has just revealed some teasing details about its upcoming V5000i UST Projector (Ultra Short Throw) ($3499). This is a triple laser 4K DLP projector with 2500 lumens peak brightness and HDR10+ support. The device also includes BenQ’s HDR-PRO tone mapping and local contrast enhancement technology to make the most of 4K content with HDR. This processing ensures that the projector retains detail in both the dark and bright areas of the image.

The company claims that the V5000i projector is capable of reproducing 95% of the BT.2020 color spectrum as well as 98% of DCI-P3 cinematic color. Gamers will be pleased to hear that the projector supports 4K signals from next-generation gaming consoles at 120Hz, although the projector’s input lag measurements have yet to be released. The unit comes bundled with a complimentary BenQ 100-inch Ambient Light Reduction (ALR) Fresnel screen for use in bright or dark rooms.

For sound, the V5000i has a pair of treVelo speakers powered by a 40W amplifier. It is said to be compatible with “Dolby and DTS technologies”. There is also an HDMI connector (HDMI 2) that is eARC compatible for connection to a receiver or soundbar.

BenQ has good experience with UST projectors. Last year, their V7050i projector was ranked #1 in ProjectorScreen.com’s LaserTV Showdown in the single laser category. It will be interesting to see what they can do with the 3-laser RGB lighting engine and the new advanced HDR-PRO processor.
